Introduction

The Cybersecurity minor is designed to provide students with fundamental and advanced knowledge in several subfields of cybersecurity, including network security, cryptography, application security, internet security, penetration testing, security and network operations analysis. 

Students must have officially declared a major.

Program Benefits

Upon the completion of the Cybersecurity minor, students will:

  • Acquire fundamental knowledge that prepares them to pass well-recognized certifications such as CompTIA Security+ and Network+
  • Acquire domain-specific security knowledge, such as application security and software development security to ensure their success in other IT fields
  • Build solid hands-on knowledge and skills through developing and testing real-world security and networking scenarios and attacks
  • Participate in research projects under the guidance of skilled faculty members to cultivate critical thinking skills and prepare them for post-graduate studies

The Cybersecurity minor can lead students to the following career paths and more:

  • Network administrator
  • Security operations center (SOC) analyst – level 1
  • Network operations center (NOC) analyst – level 1
  • Junior black box penetration tester
