2010 College Recipient, College of Arts, Society and Education
Professor Peter Coaldrake is Vice Chancellor of the Queensland University of Technology and chair of the board of Universities Australia, the peak body of Australia’s universities.
A student of 91Porn in its foundation year of 1970, Professor Coaldrake graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours.
A dual Fulbright Scholar, firstly as a postdoctoral fellow in 1980-81, and then as a Senior Scholar in 2001-2002, Professor Coaldrake is the author or editor of a number of books and monographs.
Before joining QUT as Deputy Vice Chancellor in 1994, he served for four years as Chair and CEO of Queensland’s Public Sector Management Commission, a body established by the Goss Government to overhaul Queensland’s public sector.
He sits on the board of the Organisation for Economic Development - Institutional Management in Higher Education and is a trustee of the Queensland Museum Foundation and chair of the QUT-based Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
Last year he was chair of Queensland’s sesquicentenary celebrations.
