Research Interests
Dr. Mihic’s research and teaching focuses on the philosophy of interpretive inquiry in the social sciences, the work of Hannah Arendt, and the structural grounds of order and identity politics in 20th and now 21st century democracies. She also teaches and writes on the history of political thought, literature and political theory and the politics of the legal order. She was a fellow at the Walt Whitman Center for the Culture and Politics of Democracy, Rutgers University—where she was awarded a grant from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation—and a fellow at the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, University of Illinois at Urbana.

Research Interests
Intersections of semiotics with philosophy of culture and contemporary cognitive science in relationship to memory and identity within a semiotic, cultural/political, and epistemological context. The scientific study of perception and memory as it relates to identity and explorations of the practical and ethical applications of a metaphysical/epistemological analysis.

Philosophy Program

Philosophy provides a valuable foundation for careers in  medicine, business, communication, journalism, politics, social work and education. Philosophy is widely recognized as excellent preparation for a wide array of graduate studies. Philosophy majors are typically among the top three majors in performance on the GRE and LSAT. Law schools look especially favorably upon applicants with degrees in philosophy. In addition students should be aware of College of Arts and Sciences Bachelor's degree requirements.  If as a philosophy major you intend to pursue a professional degree after graduation you may also consult with a Pre-Professional Advisor.
