Student Support Services /academics/el-centro/student-support-services Student Support Services Lizett Galan Wed, 02/10/2021 - 14:42

Students call El Centro their "home away from home." It's where they find their calling and reach their fullest potential.

A CARING STAFF

Providing students with the care and support they need begins with a caring staff. The caring staff of the El Centro family are dedicated to helping students reach their academic, personal, and professional goals. We offer a wealth of resources to nurture the growth of each student. Our holistic approach to the college experience creates a campus culture that enhances student learning, academic success, and leadership development.

STUDENT SUCCESS AND RETENTION WORKSHOPS

El Centro offers virtual interactive workshops to help students succeed throughout their college career. All workshops are facilitated by the El Centro team in collaboration with other departments across the University. The workshops are designed to provide resources, share information, and build a community for our students. Each week, El Centro presents a different topic. All NEIU students are welcome to attend and are encouraged to ask any questions.

Workshops are conducted from noon-1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays.

SCHOLARSHIPS

El Centro need-based and academic scholarships offer students additional funding to supplement their financial aid. Every semester, El Centro students are given the opportunity and are encouraged to apply. Many students have expressed that the scholarships have relieved their financial stress, motivated them to succeed, and empowered them to apply for other scholarships.

Students who are awarded the scholarship are asked to give back by completing 10 hours of community service, which reinforces the El Centro mission of building community and supporting our students.

For more information on scholarships, visit NEIU Scholarship Opportunities

El Centro’s Financial Aid Advisor is happy to guide you through the application process.

El Centro Student Emergency Fund provides emergency financial support to currently enrolled students who are unable to meet essential expenses due to a temporary or unexpected hardship.

Our highest priority is to ensure that every NEIU student succeeds. Because of these unprecedented times, the El Centro Student Emergency Fund provides emergency funds to students who are personally and economically affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Examples of unexpected circumstances include loss of wages, costs to support remote learning, food insecurity, and other unanticipated expenses.
