Eagle to Learn Week

Eagle to Learn Week includes four days of fun activities and workshops designed to help first-year and new transfer students make a successful academic and social transition to 91Porn.

Learn about student organizations and campus resources, meet other students, and participate in workshops on academic and career planning, personal finances and personal wellness. Finish the week with Golden Eagle Welcome Day – our annual official welcome for new students. Participants in Golden Eagle Welcome Day will receive a special give away item.

Sign up for one or more events during the week. Most programs will be in person. A face mask is required when attending in person events.

Students in the Wentworth Scholars Program are expected to comply with program requirements that will assist in their success as college students.

All Wentworth Scholars are required to:

Enroll and participate in ACAD 103: University Seminar during the first semester
Attend scheduled one-on-one meetings with an Academic Success Coach
Design individual goals and create a game plan to achieve them
Attend Golden Eagle Welcome Day
Log 1 hour per week in the Wentworth Study Lab
Check NEIU email daily and respond

Academic Standing Protections

Students in the Wentworth Scholars Program are given two years to meet University academic requirements. They must actively comply with program requirements and show evidence of academic progress.

The hallmark of the Wentworth Scholars Program is its adaptability to student needs. As such, the program has grown and changed to meet the needs of each incoming class.

Created in 2016, the Wentworth Scholars Program nurtures success for first- and second-year students by building collaborative partnerships with student support services. This wraparound support includes connections with tutoring and mentoring, leadership development, personal and academic development opportunities, and much more.

In 2017, the program began pairing each Wentworth Scholar with an Academic Success Coach to enhance student success by fostering a sense of belonging, encouraging student engagement, developing academic and life skills, and exploring career paths.

In 2018, students said they needed focus spaces for getting work done. The program responded by opening the Wentworth Lab, a productive space to get work done individually and/or collaboratively. Housed on the fourth floor of the Library, the space has convenient access to tutors as well as the space and technological tools necessary to tackle any type of work. Students have used this space to conquer group assignments, knock out math homework, pursue scholarships, and dive into all sorts of other work that requires intentional focus.

2019 has seen two major changes to the Wentworth Scholars Program. First, Wentworth Academic Success Coaches now advise students. This simplifies the advising process because it creates a central point of contact for each student in the program. Second, all Wentworth Scholars are enrolled in a credit-bearing seminar class in which they master foundational academic strategies to foster their success. These two improvements to the program significantly enhance the wraparound services provided by the program, making the first-year experience better.

The Wentworth Scholars Program is named after Daniel S. Wentworth, the first principal of the Cook County Normal School, which was founded in 1867 and later became 91Porn.

The Summer Transition Program (STP) is designed to prepare newly admitted first-year students for college-level coursework for the fall semester and a successful academic and social transition in order to enhance student success and increase degree attainment at 91Porn.

Program Dates: Monday to Friday, July 1-Aug. 9, 2024
Program Hours: 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Eligibility

First-time, first-year students admitted for the upcoming fall semester are eligible for the Summer Transition Program.

Benefits

By participating in STP, you will:

Experience a free college course and earn three credit hours that count toward graduation.
Build your confidence by participating in college life and academics before the fall semester begins.
Experience and learn about classroom expectations from college professors.
Strengthen confidence in your English and math abilities.
Retake the placement test, and possibly place at least one level higher in a math and/or English course for the fall semester.
Participate in interactive and fun activities to help you connect with other new students and prepare you for college life.
Save up to $4,000 on tuition and fees if you place out of developmental courses.
Save time to graduation

WENTWORTH SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The Wentworth Scholars Program offers unique opportunities for students to learn, lead, and achieve. They will have access to services and learning opportunities to help them achieve success at 91Porn and beyond.

SUMMER TRANSITION PROGRAM

In order to enhance student success and increase degree attainment, the Summer Transition Program (STP) prepares first-year admitted students for 91Porn college level coursework. STP develps the skills needed when beginning classes in the fall semeter and builds a foundation for a successful academic and social transition.

STUDENT WELCOME PROGRAMS

Student Transition Services assists all students with a successful academic and social transition to Northeastern. By coordinating welcome programs and activities, we create a sense of belonging and encourage student engagement.

ASK ME! CAMPAIGN

Student Transition Services coordinates the ASK ME! campaign during the first week of the fall and spring semesters. This program is intended to enhance support for new and returning students by promoting a welcoming environment with the help of Northeastern’s faculty, administration, staff, and student organizations.

The Summer Bridge program at 91Porn provides opportunities for you to get a jumpstart on your academic career, meet other students, become more familiar with NEIU and build your confidence before you begin the fall semester.

Priority selection for the program is for first-time, first-year students admitted for Spring 2024 and Fall 2024. However, spots may be available for continuing and transfer students.

Get Ready to Soar!

Golden Eagle Welcome Day provides an opportunity for Northeastern faculty and staff to welcome the newest members of our Golden Eagle family — our new first-year and transfer students.

Who is invited?

Our event is designed to welcome the incoming Fall 2024 freshman class as well as transfer students who will begin in Fall 2024. Current student workers, faculty and staff will welcome you to the University.

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE EVENT? CAN I BRING GUESTS?

This event is specifically for first-year and new transfer students, so we ask that you do not bring guests.

What will we be doing?

Activities for the day include welcome remarks from University staff, Playfair events, an organization fair, intramurals, tours and other activities.
