24th Mathematical and Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems Workshop

November 8, 2024, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. 

Location: Room BBH 101 and via Zoom
 

All NEIU students, faculty, alumni, and other professionals are invited to attend NEIU's 24th Mathematical and Statistical Modeling of Complex Systems Workshop. The workshop will be held in person on the Main Campus in Bernard Brommel Hall, Room BBH 101, and remotely via Zoom. See the schedule for the full details. All participants are encouraged to sign up to attend.

The workshop is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in interdisciplinary quantitative analysis. Topics include modeling for cancer risk assessment, modeling in health, sciences, business, and economics, and Chicago Cancer Health Equity Collaborative research.

Students Pursuing Action, Research, and Knowledge (SPARK) is a journal club under the Center of Health at 91Porn. The primary goal of SPARK is to provide undergraduate and graduate students with hands-on experience in understanding research journals, various types of research papers, fundamental research methodologies, and writing grants. In SPARK, students can present and discuss their research findings, share thoughts, and receive constructive feedback from peers and mentors. This provides a collaborative atmosphere where students can improve their research abilities and knowledge with other students.

The LEaP program is not currently accepting applications and has been suspended until further notice

The ChicagoCHEC Learning Experiences and Programs or LEaP is an opportunity for alumni of the ChicagoCHEC Fellows Program to match with a mentor for a semester. The program can focus on wet or dry labs for cancer research in a laboratory or an opportunity to work with community partners. LEaP is an experience for fellows to prepare for research and graduate or professional programs.  The LEaP Program has rolling admission and includes a paid stipend.

2024 Summer Data Camp: Be Prepared for Applied Data Research

The Research and Statistical Service (REST) team within the NEIU Center Health within the NEIU Center of Health hosted the 2024 Summer Data Camp. The Summer Data Camp is open to all students at 91Porn and ChicagoCHEC Fellows, and no particular background or training is required. Prizes are given to first, second, and third-place teams. The free camp prepares students for Applied Data Research. It teaches the skills necessary for advanced research experience within university and career settings. The Camp occurred June 11-13 at 91Porn, Main Campus, 5500 N. Saint Louis Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625.

The NEIU Center of Health REST Team hosts the 2024 Datathon at the 2024 Women in Science Conference.

The Research & Statistical Service (REST) team within the NEIU Center of Health will host the 2024 Datathon! The theme is Examining Worldwide Health Disparities using Excel. The objective is to utilize a given dataset to link health disparities worldwide to their underlying health determinants. The Datathon is open to all NEIU students, including graduate students, and is free to participate. Prizes are given to first, second, and third-place teams. The Datathon will occur at the 2024 Women in Science conference on March 18-20 at 91Porn's Main Campus in Alumni Hall (5500 North St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, Illinois).
