The IRSN’s 2024 Seminar Series: “Determining Futures at the Interface”
The Indigenous Research Support Network holds a series of lectures each year. The focus this year is on Cultural Interface Scholarship and Self-Determination Agendas. This is a free event for those interested in joining a community of leading and emerging research scholars working with Indigenous topics.

Learn moreEddie Koiki Mabo Lecture Series
Eddie Mabo was a staff member at JCU from 1967 to 1971. From 1973-1983 he established and became director of the Black Community School in Townsville and enrolled as a student studying teaching. It was through his association with JCU humanities and education staff, Professor Henry Reynolds and Associate Professor Noel Loos, that Eddie became interested in who owned the land on which his people lived, and in Native Title. Find out more about the pursuit of this prominent person who has made a significant contribution to contemporary Australian society through the Mabo Lecture series.
Learn moreIndigenous Student Graduations
Each year, we see many of our graduating students from the Cairns and Townsville campuses attend the Sashing Ceremony prior to their official graduation. The cultural sash identifies the students' cultural heritage as being Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or both. This intimate ceremony welcomes family and friends to attend.
Learn moreNational Indigenous Learning Support Conference
