MBA Curriculum (33 Credit Hours)

From a holistic perspective, NEIU’s MBA program supplies accomplished, creative professionals with the competencies needed to lead diverse teams and manage firms in a global business environment. To reach this point, the MBA curriculum strongly emphasizes collaboration and written and oral communication skills, sensitivity toward ethical issues, and solving complex problems with traditional and modern tools.

You’ll kick off the program with seven core courses (21 credit hours) encompassing the use and applications of information systems and technology in business and develop a more comprehensive understanding of fundamental business areas, including accounting, corporate finance, marketing management, leadership and organizational behavior theories, applied research and operations management.  A capstone course (3 credit hours) to round out your program that covers policy and strategy is also required.

For strengthening and improving your knowledge, you’ll take three elective courses (9 credit hours) from public health, information technology, international business, finance, marketing, and organizational and leadership areas.

You can further specialize your course of study by selecting from one of nine concentrations:

Admission Requirements

The College of Business and Management accepts interested candidates for fall, spring, and summer semesters. If you’re considering this move to grow your career, requirements include:

  • a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework;
  • GMAT or GRE scores;
  • a statement of career goals and objectives;
  • two letters of recommendations;
  • a resume with a listing of of professional accomplishments;
  • a minimum 2.75 GPA for all coursework completed to date;
  • minimum mathematical competencies;
  • if applying as an international student, an acceptable TOEFL or IELTS score, and;
  • non-US degrees need to have a course-by-course evaluation by a member of  to determine the equivalence of degrees.

The minor in Business Analytics is intended to arm students from any college and major with the tools and skills needed to answer data-driven questions relevant to their field. To meet this goal, required courses will cover the five pillars of business analytics: Data Collection, Data Preparation, Data Modeling, Data Visualization and Analysis, and Reporting. Students will learn both theory and practice using cutting-edge software. Electives tailor to students from a variety of majors and allow students to build their own “concentration.”
