The licensure exam is “intended to certify that the successful candidate has completed the educational, training and experience requirements of the specialty, including a performance examination designed to assess the competencies required to provide quality services in the specialty of Geropsychology,” according to the ABGERO website.

“It’s the first opportunity in the field ever to be licensed like a social worker or a clinical psychologist,” she said. “Once you have our training, this would be the next logical step.”
Geropsychology Board members must be approved before the formal application process can begin.
