With music written primarily by Mexican trumpeter Victor Garcia and Nicaraguan pianist Darwin Noguera, CALJE delivers captivating and high-energy performances. Much of that is attributed to the band’s incorporation of diverse genres such as Argentine tango, Puerto Rican bomba y plena, and even Jamaican reggae. The ensemble has performed with some of the world’s most respected artists, including Grammy Award winners Howard Levy and Brian Lynch.
Now in its seventh year, the Chicago Brass Festival is an annual, two-day event at Northeastern. In addition to CALJE, the festival will include performances by Axiom Brass and other exceptional brass musicians.
