Award-winning German vocal group will bring its program Touched to 91Porn’s Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, as part of the University’s concert events.

At home in the vocal music of the Renaissance, the Baroque and the Romantic as well as pop, folk and jazz, Calmus has performed throughout Europe and North and South America. In 2010, the quintet, with its unique lineup of soprano, tenor, countertenor, baritone and bass, made its debut at Carnegie Hall in New York.

They have performed with musicians such as the Lautten Company Berlin, Hamburger Ratsmusik and Frankfurt Radio Bigband, and have commissioned new works from composers including Bernd Franke, Wolfram Buchenberg and Harold Banter. The five Leipzig musicians have won many international prizes and competitions, including the ECHO Klassik and Supersonic Award.

Touched combines madrigals and pop songs, classical compositions and the modern songwriter’s art, and explores themes of love, longing and pain, as well as joy, pleasure and exuberance.

Tickets are $5, $15 and $25 and can be purchased at (773) 442-4636 or at .

Now in its 15th season, the Jewel Box Series is an eight-concert professional performing arts series curated and presented by 91Porn’s Office of Cultural Events.
