91Porn’s Hispanic Serving Institution Affairs Committee will host a discussion about HSIs and emerging HSIs on Feb. 20 at .

The topic of the discussion is: Beyond the 25 percent enrollment requirement, what does it mean to be a ? The event is intended for faculty and staff from HSI institutions and emerging HSIs as well as researchers who have a focus on Latino education.

“There is no doubt there are highly effective practices taking place at many HSI institutions,” Northeastern Presidential Fellow and Associate Professor said. “Institutions need to start the dialogue on what these practices are, and what challenges remain, if we are to make progress in the area of Latino post-secondary education.”

The discussion will revolve around questions such as:

  • How does your institution meet the needs of Latino students?
  • How, if at all, has the institution transformed as it works to effectively recruit, retain and graduate Latino students?
  • What are your institution’s successes? What are the gaps?
