Free and open to the public, the reading will take place at 3 p.m. in the Golden Eagles Room on Northeastern’s Main Campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Diggs’ reading will be preceded by a question and answer session at 12:15 p.m. in Lech Walesa Hall, Room 2005.

Interdisciplinary poet and sound artist Diggs was born and raised in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood. She studied at the Borough of Manhattan Community College and earned an M.A. at New York University and an M.F.A. at California College of the Arts.

Diggs is also the author of several chapbooks, as well as the album “Television” (2003). She has been a poetry editor for the online arts journal  and, with writer Greg Tate, is a founding editor of  magazine.

Diggs’ interdisciplinary work has been featured in exhibits at several New York museums, including the Whitney and the Museum of Modern Art. Her additional honors include scholarships and residencies from the New York Foundation for the Arts, Cave Canem, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Harlem Community Arts Fund, the Jerome Foundation, the Eben Demarest Trust, Caldera Arts, Black Earth Institute, and the Barbara Deming Memorial Foundation. She lives in New York City.

Now in its fourth year, the Visiting Writers Series brings nationally and internationally renowned writers to Northeastern to read and engage with students and the community.
