This year’s theme is “A New Era in Higher Education: The Latino Effect.” More than 300 Latino students, faculty and staff from around the state are expected to attend.
“This is a great opportunity for Northeastern as the as the first four-year Hispanic-Serving Institution in the Midwest,” Northeastern Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Daniel Lopez said. “We’re delighted to partner with ILACHE to host their 2015 conference that will highlight Latino student success initiatives.”
The event’s keynote speaker, J. Sarah Gonzales, has worked in social justice education for more than 17 years. With experience in student services at higher education institutions, community organizing and youth development both nationally and in Arizona, Gonzales founded her own national social justice consulting company to support communities addressing inequity.
