English research presenters

English major Katelyn Juerjens’ paper “‘AACK!’ Gender, Beauty, and the Workplace in Cathy” earned an honorable mention for Best Paper during the from March 27-30 in St. Louis. Joined by Assistant Professor of English Ryan Poll, 10 English students (top photo) presented their original research on a range of issues from Afrofuturism to comic studies and gender. In addition to Juerjens, the students who participated were Clifton Frei, Marlene Crystal Garcia, Isaias Rogel, Vanessa Macias, Jennifer Velazquez, Natalia Rokita, Billy Peters, Marwen Daher and Nicole Vale. Northeastern will host Eagle Fest from 2-6 p.m. April 11 in Alumni Hall to celebrate students who have registered for their Fall 2019 classes. Students can celebrate their progress toward a degree with food, games, music and fun!
