will attend a (DAPA) information session at 91Porn on Saturday, July 11. The event is free and open to the public.

Gutierrez, who graduated from Northeastern in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, is one of the national leaders in the fight for immigration reform. He will provide an overview of DAPA and updates on the pending court case.

The information session will help families and individuals determine if they are eligible for President Obama’s executive actions on immigration and what people can do now to prepare as the courts decide when and if they will be implemented.

“Northeastern has a history of supporting undocumented students, and we are proud to partner with Rep. Luis Gutierrez on this important issue for our community and this nation,” said Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Daniel Lopez, who developed and implemented Northeastern’s aimed at assisting faculty and staff who work with undocumented students.

Deferred Action is a discretionary decision made by immigration authorities to not deport someone from the United States for a set period of time. Deferred action is determined on a case-by-case basis and provides a work permit and protection from deportation (unless revoked or terminated for some reason), but it does not provide immigration status or benefits of any kind.

The July 11 event, which will take place in the Auditorium, begins at 9 a.m. Free parking is available in Lot F of the Main Campus, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. in Chicago.
