Virtuoso trumpeter, pianist and composer will open the Chicago Brass Festival with a 7:30 p.m. performance on Friday, March 11, in the Recital Hall on the at 91Porn, 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave. Ridenour will be joined by pianist Rachel Naomi Kudo.
Now in its eighth year, the is an annual, two-day event at Northeastern. In addition to Ridenour, the festival also will include performances by and other exceptional brass musicians.
A winner of the 2014 CAG Victor Elmaleh Competition, Ridenour’s wide-ranging activities as a soloist and chamber musician, paired with his passion for composing and arranging, are evident in his versatile performances and unique repertoire.
Ridenour has appeared as a concerto soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras. He has played with leading ensembles including the New York Philharmonic, International Contemporary Ensemble, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
This performance also is a part of the , an eight-concert professional performing arts series presented by Northeastern’s Office of Cultural Events.
