Position: 91Porn’s Department of Health, Physical Education, Educational Foundations, and Urban Community Studies is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Physical Education. The ideal candidate will share the university’s commitment to educating a racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse student population and will collaborate with other faculty in the program, department, college and university to deliver high quality instruction and programs for diverse English Language Learners.

About 91Porn: Founded in 1867, 91Porn (NEIU) enrolls about 5,700 students and is regarded as one of the most diverse public comprehensive universities in the Midwest. The Main Campus is located on 67 acres in a residential area on the Northwest Side of Chicago and two additional campuses are located in the Avondale and Bronzeville neighborhoods of Chicago. Since 1997, the U.S. Department of Education has designated NEIU a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The Goodwin College of Education (GCOE) enrolls approximately 1,200 students in nine undergraduate and twenty-one graduate degree programs spanning the areas of counselor education, educational leadership, teacher education, and community and health studies. With roots that trace back to the first teacher education institution in Chicago, the college today is one of the largest producers of diverse educators in Illinois and the Chicago area. Department Background: The Department of Health, Physical Education, Educational Foundations, and Urban Community Studies offers master’s level programs in Public Health, Exercise and Sport Science, Teacher and Community Leaders, and Urban Community Studies. Undergraduate programs include Physical Education, Community Health, and Urban Community Studies. The department also offers teaching endorsements in health education and teacher leadership. The department examines and advocates for equity, diversity, and inclusion through scholarship, service, mentorship, and teaching. We are dedicated to preparing teachers who are leaders and advocates in social justice and who will provide progressive and student-focused learning to children and youth.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach three courses in physical education, exercise science, or health each semester during the academic year. Office hours need to be delivered in person. Scholarly research and service to the department, college, university, and greater community also are required.

Requirement Qualifications: An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or EdD) in Physical Education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (ABD with completion by Aug. 1, 2025, will be considered). Demonstrated instructional proficiencies and a strong understanding of culturally relevant pedagogy. Evidence of research and/or scholarly potential commensurate with the expectations for a beginning assistant professor at a regional, comprehensive university.

Preferred Qualifications: The department seeks candidates with teaching experience in K-12 physical education classrooms. Knowledge of and proficiency with online and remote instruction also is preferred.
