Introduction

The Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science program is designed with the choice of two concentrations for degree completion. The Exercise Science concentration is for graduates interested in learning about human performance, disease prevention, and cardiac rehabilitation. The Physical Education, Sport, and Recreation concentration is for graduates interested in learning about the management of programs and facilities in physical education, sport, and recreation.

Program Benefits

Students gain the knowledge, skills and abilities to advance as exercise, sport, physical education, and recreation professionals. Applied experiences are available in the forms of directed research, independent studies and internships. Students may also participate in faculty research or conduct a thesis for further research experience. Our program has a large network of alumni who offer new opportunities in the form of internship experiences and career networking.

Career Options

The Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science prepares students in careers in private and public sectors of health, sports, and medicine in areas such as:

  • cardiac rehabilitation
  • physical/occupational rehabilitation
  • sport and fitness medicine
  • other related professional areas in both medical and sport settings

In addition, the Exercise and Sport Science program will prepare students for entry into a variety of doctoral programs, particularly if the thesis option is selected.
