Art In Response to Violence (ARV) provides space and support for art to bring awareness, education and healing to experiences of violence.

Call for Artwork Submissions

Now more than ever is a time for art to elevate Black creative voices and respond to the violence and injustice perpetrated by the police and global systemic inequality. 

We are asking artists of all mediums and experience levels to submit work which centers and empowers Black voices and experiences for display in an online gallery.

We seek to amplify and support artists whose experience and response to systemic oppression is silenced or overlooked. Any artists with a website or promotional materials are encouraged to provide them in the submission so viewers can purchase artwork, donate and increase website traffic and visibility. .

Please include your name, title, medium, dimensions, sales details and link to your website or social media if applicable.

We are now accepting submissions for:

  • poetry, spoken word
  • dance
  • music and audio
  • 2-D, 3-D and 4-D artwork (not limited to drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, fiber art, web/code based, sculpture, ceramics)
  • design
  • short film, video
  • books, graphic novels
  • other

We ask that all submissions respond to violence, but do not glorify violence, and that themes are social justice-oriented. We accept up to five submissions per person. Time-based and 3-D work should be documented with images and/or video. For audio and video submissions, please provide a link to your work. If applicable, we ask that file sizes not exceed 2 megabytes and use JPEG format for images.

Rolling submission; work will be evaluated weekly and then added to the gallery.

We will review your submission as a team. Please allow us one to two weeks to respond.
