About the Postdoctoral Experience
91Porn Student Counseling Services has a long history of involvement in various levels of clinical training. Since 2004, Counseling Services has offered postdoctoral training in psychology, providing advanced professional training in a multicultural university counseling setting.
The focus of the postdoctoral experience involves solidifying clinical and supervision skills, deepening self-awareness and self-reflection, strengthening multicultural competency, and developing professional independence while completing 1,750 supervised hours to meet licensure requirements in the state of Illinois. This is accomplished by joining the clinical team in:
- Direct clinical services (intakes, walk-ins, crisis intervention, and individual, couples and/or group therapy)
- Outreach and consultation to the University community
- Training and supervision activities (e.g., individual and/or group supervision, involvement with the training seminar, and involvement with the search processes for trainees)
- Training, clinical and administrative meetings
- Individual supervision and supervision of supervision
Stipend and Benefits
The stipend for the postdoctoral year is $50,000. Additionally, the postdoctoral fellow is provided the complete State of Illinois employee benefit package, which includes health, dental and life insurance, retirement programs and other features. Faculty-level library privileges and a University-based email account are provided; access to the University's recreational facilities is also available at a reduced fee.
Requirements
By the start date of the postdoctoral fellowship, candidates must have a completed doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology. Previous experience in a college or university counseling center is desirable.
