403(b) Plans

A 403(b) plan, also known as a tax-sheltered annuity plan, is a retirement plan for certain employees of
public schools, employees of certain Code Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations and certain
ministers. A 403(b) plan allows employees to contribute
Please be advised that the IRS has recently announced that the maximum amount individuals can
contribute to their 403(b) and 457(b) plan will increase for the calendar year 2024. The new limits are:

  • $23,500 for participants under the age of 50.
  • $31,000 for participants that will turn 50 during the calendar year, or older.  
  •  $34,750 for participants aged 60, 61, 62, and 63.

457 Deferred Compensation Plans

A 457(b) plan is an employer-sponsored, tax-favored retirement savings offered to public service
employees and some nonprofit organization employees. Like a 401(k) plan, a 457(b) lets you contribute
pre-tax dollars from your paycheck, invest it, and not pay taxes on it until you withdraw it, usually for
retirement.
