Shadow Between leans into the themes of time, decay, intimacy and materiality as meaning, utilizing fiber art and found objects in the work of Jeremy Carter and Jenny Halpern.
Jeremy Carter (b. 1989, Detroit, Michigan) is a Chicago based painter & fiber artist that centers their work around found objects. Through up sourcing materials he uses a wide array of items to convey structures from a different era whether it be a futuristic dystopia or a time that is no more. The destination you are taken to is meant to evoke emotion or question it’s what the tool was made for. Ensuring durability through tension is a reoccurring theme throughout his practice. His work has been shown throughout the greater Chicago area.
Jenny Halpern is a painter and educator based in Chicago. She earned her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2023. Her work has been featured in Studio Visit Magazine (Vol. 53) and exhibited at Rushwoman, JULIUS CAESAR, Color Club, Hyde Park Art Center, Yes Project Space at Zhou B Art Center, The Art Institute of Chicago, Woman Made Gallery, CNL Projects, Terrain Exhibitions, Latin School Gallery, and Stasias Gallery.
