Student Leadership Development hosts, sponsors, and supports several retreats and conferences throughout the year for students.

Leadership Exchange

Hosted by the Association of Campus Activity Advisors this conference brings together over 100 student leaders from universities around Chicago. Workshops are offered on various topics pertaining to student leadership. This conference is held in November at rotating universities.

Freshman Leadership Institute

The Freshman Leadership Institute (FLI) is an exciting two day retreat where you will have the opportunity to meet fellow freshmen, develop personal leadership skills, and create new memories. Through the guidance of experienced and emerging student leaders, you will have the chance to get learn about the many facets of community and leadership at 91Porn. All first-year students are welcome to apply, regardless of their past school involvement/experience. Some of the activities include icebreakers, team-building exercises, low ropes courses, small group discussions, tie-dying, and free time (options to play sports or go for walks, swimming, paddle boating, etc.)

The retreat includes:

  • Working closely with your group
  • Establishing personal values
  • Striving to be an integral part of the University
  • Meeting new people, developing relationships, and having fun
  • Transportation to and from the the camp site. We will depart at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug, 21 from the Main Campus - Lot J (parking lot east of The Nest residence hall) and return back to campus on Tuesday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The two day retreat will take place Aug. 21 and 22 (Mon-Tues) at Camp Duncan in Ingleside, Ill.

There is no cost to attend this retreat.

Women’s Retreat

Held in conjunction with the Women’s Resource Center, this two-day retreat focuses on issues facing today’s woman by providing a safe space for growth and discourse.

TEDxNEIU

Independent TED conference held at Northeastern. Students are able to apply to be part of selection committee, to be a speaker, or to help volunteer on the event day.
